Heritage Auctions will host an invite-only reception on March 24 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas. The two hour event beginning at 7:00 p.m. CDT, precedes Heritage's Grand Format Air & Space Auction and will include a number of Apollo astronauts in attendance: - Buzz Aldrin (Gemini 12, Apollo 11)
- Eugene Cernan (Gemini 9, Apollo 10, Apollo 17)
- Walter Cunningham (Apollo 7)
- Charles Duke (Apollo 16)
- Richard Gordon (Gemini 11, Apollo 12)
- Joseph Kerwin (Skylab 1)
- Jack Lousma (Skylab 2, STS-3)
- Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14)
collectSPACE members have been invited to attend, but you must RSVP in advance. To receive your invitation, contact Charlotte Martin with your mailing address. For those traveling to the area, Heritage has arranged a special rate at three hotels. All three are within a $12 to $15 taxi ride to the museum: - Bradford Suites, 214-965-9990, $89 per night
- Doubletree Suites, 214-741-7481, $89 per night
- Melrose Hotel, 214-521-5151, $159 per night

Thanks Garry, but I really can't take any credit for this one — cS members Farris Rookstool and Howard Weinberger arranged it so that cS readers could participate. Thanks guys! |

Any idea if any of the astronauts in attendance will be signing autographs? And if they are, will their usual signing fees be in effect?Jim |

For anyone who has not received the auction catalogue but plans to attend the reception on March 24, I thought it may be helpful to advise that this is a mix and mingle opportunity for collectors and space enthusiasts and not an autograph session. This is an opportunity for the astronauts to talk about some of the artifacts they have consigned, share some stories and meet some of the folks who will be bidding on their items. It has been requested that people not ask for autographs. As most collectors know, these gentlemen normally receive a fee for signing and there will be no such set-up for that. Reasonable requests for photos I'm sure would be appropriate. | |
