Television presenter Raymond Baxter - best known for fronting the BBC's Tomorrow's World programme - has died at the age of 84. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5350436.stm

Tomorrow's World was a gem of a programme which covered technological innovations in the late 60's and onwards. I still remember the VCR being presented as a miracle of modern technology!
Raymond Baxter not only presented the first transatlantic TV broadcast via Telstar, but also covered Concorde's first flight and the early manned space program. He had piloted Spitfires against V1 and V2 sites in WW2. The classic English gentleman who was an inspiration to many.
May he rest in peace.

I was saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Baxter, a true British aerospace legend. I have a particularly vivid memory of Raymond presenting live coverage on BBC TV of Surveyor 1's soft-landing on the Moon just after 7am on 2nd June, 1966. He had a wonderfully memorable voice and a genuine enthusiasm for science.

Raymond Baxter....loved the way he presented on Tomorrows World and the "airshow specials" he did in the 80s/90s...still got those on video somewhere...perfect voice for voicing over hi-tech stuff....RIP
