Astronauts Jake Garn (STS-51D) and Don Lind (STS-51B) will celebrate Astronomy Day this weekend according to the following news item:

This will be a day to "Keep an eye on the sky" according to the following news item:

Ironic that Don Lind and Jake Garn are appearing together. Back when Garn flew on 51-D, he was criticized for using his Congressional rank to "bump" long-waiting "real astronauts" like Don Lind (selected in 1966), who had waited 19 years for his first and only flight on 51-B. Apparently Lind himself didn't hold a grudge.

Oddly, those who lamented Garn's queue-jumping never mentioned all of the more junior astronauts from the selection groups of 1967, 1969 and 1978 that also flew before Lind.
