Mike Mullane is scheduled to be a guest on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight according to their website.

It airs on Comedy Central at 11pm ET and repeats at 1am.

While I like Jon Stewart quite a bit and enjoy his political humor (as he seems to see the absurdity of politics that most "news" shows miss), be warned that he is no fan of the space program...at least that's the impression I've gotten from him in the past. It'll be interesting to see how the Mullane interview goes.

I didn't hear about this until this morning. Did they discuss anything interesting?

(How's this for a memorable 1,000th post?)

I caught most of it. It was a good, entertaining interview IMO, though I don't recall many specifics.

I do recall Mullane mentioning they would see little pieces of foam coming off the tank and hitting the windows during launch. At the end of the interview Stewart asked Mike what the monolith was in 2001.

My signed copy is on the way from Boggs and I can't wait to get it!

It was good but only lasted about 5 minutes. Maybe he'll make the rounds to other shows soon.

Robert, thanks for the link!
What a great segment, and especially for the TV viewers who know nothing about spaceflight. Hopefully it was an enlightening interview for them and everyone.
Scott...after Stewart asked about the '2001' monolith, it seemed to me Mullane was just about to answer the question seriously, but was cut off by Stewart mid first syllable and it then went into a more comical air.
Too bad. I wonder what he would have said!
