Three astronauts from the Space Shuttle Discovery mission made their first New York public appearance this morning since landing in California earlier this month.

American Museum of Natural History President Ellen V. Futter opened the public event held to mark this historic mission, share it with New York City youth, and welcome home Commander Eileen Collins along with Mission Specialists Charles Camarda, a Queens native, and Stephen Robinson.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, Frederick P. Rose Director of the Museum’s Hayden Planetarium, hosted the event during which the astronauts spoke about their experiences in space and answered questions from children in the audience.

As the event came to a close, the astronauts signed autographs for the children in attendance (including members of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club) and participated in media interviews.
