Does anyone have any knowledge of this TV series :-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/06_june/24/space.shtml

It's described as a docu-drama which a assume means actors playing out real life events, and presented in a documetary style.

It's due to air later this year in both UK and US

I once saw docu-dramas about the Flight of Gagarin and another about the U2 Incident involving Gary Powers ... both BBC-made!

I have seen a docu-drama about Gagarin's flight that was made by the authors who wrote "Starman". I think that was shown on the BBC. Very well made programme.

Yes, I saw the Gagarin one recently - I think it was in a series called 'Days that Shook the World' or something similar.

It was made for one of the BBC Regional stations, so was probably a limited budget production.

Hopefully the new show will be a bigger and better.

On Variety.com NG have announced that they are selling advertising time, so they must be well advanced with plans to show it. Unfortunately you have to be a Variety subscriber to get the full story.

Hi,
Sounds like a great collaboration "Space Race will be the very first co-production between the BBC, NDR in Germany, Russia's Channel One TV, and National Geographic Channel-US, the American investor".
Look forward to it,
Nick

Latest information suggests the show 'Space Race' will air in the UK during October - four one hour episodes on BBC.

The accompanying book was going to be out early September, but has now been put back to later that month. The DVD of the series is released mid-November, so it seems reasonable to assume it will be shown between these dates.
