Has anyone already decided to attend the JSC Open House this year? If so, there are a couple of autographs I would love to get and this seems like the only way. I'm coming to the end of my postgraduate studies over here and frankly am not likely to have the cash to afford a flight to Houston for an event like this for years to come. Therefor I have to ask for the goodwill of fellow collectors. Anyone willing to help, please email me.

Has anyone already decided to attend the JSC Open House this year?

I plan to attend but am not too optimistic about getting autographs. Not sure which astronauts will be there, although I bet that Robert Pearlman could venture some good guesses (or he might even know). Which autographs are you looking for?

The event should be a great day; glad to see NASA doing some good PR.

The attending astronauts for the open house are posted on the sightings page. All of the 2004 astronaut candidates, plus Barbara Morgan and Hans Schlegel are scheduled to appear. I will be attending during the morning hours only as I have another committment in Houston that afternoon.

Out of those attending, I'd be most interested in an autograph from Dutton, Bresnik, Cassidy or Satcher. Although I'm not fussy, thats just off the top of my head. I had been hoping that Barratt, Bowen, Hurley, Swanson, Poindexter, Melvin or Chamitoff might be attended, but I suppose its the turn of the 2004 guys to be in the barrel.

While the astronauts scedualed to be present are the ones that Rob has posted, I would suspect that this schedual is subject to last minute changes as to the astronaut's availibility. I also understand that autographs will be limited to one per person. I'm not sure whether NASA has yet made individual portraits of the astronauts of the class of 2004, if so I have not seen them, but I would assume that there would be some item for the class of 2004 astronayts to provide for signing, although I might recommend bringing something along for them to sign just in case.

Oh don't worry..I already got that covered. I did talk with a few folks who are working behind the scenes next weekend and I was told that they would have their own portraits with them. I'm not surprised about the 1 signature per person. That's perfectly understandable...

I understand this to mean that individual portraits of the astronauts of the class of 2004 have been released. If I misunderstand, please correct me.

What is the JSC open house? I'm not familiar with it! When is it and who will be there? Will any pioneer astronauts be there?

Johnson Space Center is holding their first open house in four years this saturday. You can visit JSC.NASA.gov to see what all is going on. The 2004 astronaut candidates will be there signing autographs throughout the course of the day. Robert has posted the schedule on the sightings page. From what I am understanding, it will be only 1 autograph per person. Also, I was told that each one of them will have their own portrait lithos for signing..That's all I know.

All times are CT (US)
