If the package includes an auto pass, as the write up says it does, do you have to buy more than one ticket for a car full of people?

As I understand it, the vehicle placard is to park at the KSCVC. You will still need individual tickets for the bus ride out to the Causeway.

Brenda, please lessen the use of CAPITAL LETTERS in your post because it is hard to read and makes it seem like you are yelling.

I recommend if you are coming, especially from overseas, not to have them shipped. Other than the cost, it may not arrive in time overseas. They mail them out just two weeks before liftoff.

Put them at will-call.

I just got off the phone with someone at the visitors complex.
There are some new things with the tickets some of you may be interested in:

-They are no longer offering the only-ticket option for $17. You must buy the full $50.00 package, per person.

-You may now tell them to ship it right away or let them know you want to receive it by a certain date, rather than two weeks prior to launch only.

-You can NOT place the ticket at will call anymore and must pay the hefty shipping charge.

Hi Ben,
thank you for the above info- This is what I was trying to tell cs members on my previous posts I had an e-mail; from delaware north parks- I have a friend who works there-and knew that No longer were offering $17 launch viewing tickets only.
Just the complete package- for $50. And was told-If living in the UK I could collect at the Willcall table- like I usually do.
I have been going to Florida since 1990,and we have seen 6 space shuttle launchs-all from the 6 mile site-Banana River, and sat on the grass. I am not buying over the KSC web site- untill I find out about the date\delay,then I will get the package-
I understand later in April=KSC- will know for definate.
Thanks Ben- i do know whatI am doing- since I have been there, done that etc.
Regards from Brenda.

Hello Brenda,
Haven't seen you and your's since the Air & Space Show, (I didn't think of taking a few photos together). It would be great to see you again if NASA permits a good launch time, however the date is still set at May 15, at earliest. Maybe since tickets have just now gone on sale for the viewing,(4-4-05) your agenda may change...
Not to jinx your plans, but I'm actually hoping the May 15 date will stick. That would be the 42nd anniversary of Gordon Cooper's first flight and a very nice tip of the hat.
And please, pay no mind to others who post just to post or condone such; for YOU, Brenda, were raised and are living in a land where TRUE "English" is spoken.
And if everyone here were to make a post commenting about every single grammatical faux pas on this site no one would have the time to even think about why they are here at all!
Cheers, my friend!
Rob

Stow it, Rob.....it was a joke...
You know..humor

The fact she is "English" is the reason I used the quip. The fact about the wine is because SHE said she had too much.

Didn't think I'd have to explain to such an intelligent audience.

Friends=- Thank you very much- I am a broad minded person-have to be in this day and age- quite a few joking members have we?
Rob- You are a nice person-loved to meet at the air and space show. we have cats-hope yours are not like mine-they are very comforting.Would have been a nice idea to take some pics-never mind-there is always the next time. Are you going to the KSC Induction again- if so had a great time-
i know you will.
About the red wine=have a wine glass per day- its good for the circulation of the blood.keeps for a healthy heart,as I am a very active mum, grandma, i am a private pilot,do charity work, cook, clean and take very good care of all my family, not to mention do our accounts-write on this board,
who knows- oh-have swam with dolphins, scuba dived, flown planes in Florida- and are like many active or retired astronauts who do partake in a glass of red wine themselves.
About coming to Florida, the date is 24th.May 05. because, my hubby, son Ian,friend Lynsey and me is THE ONLY TIME WE ALL CAN- so if the Shuttle STS114 goes on the specified date 15.5.05-then its my bad luck- but will meet up with some friends i hope whilst there-ANY OFFERS FRIENDS?
Sorry to write all this-but its the only way to tell the lot of you.
thanks again- I anm a very fun ENGLISH LADY-
been around quite a few years.
regards to you all
from Brenda

Well, that solves my dilemma quickly. I'll be home watching the launch on NASA TV. The party is at my place!

Do ticket usually sell out so quickly? Is this a sign of renewed interest in the space programme or just the fact it is the first launch for over 2 years?

Hi Ken,
I think it's a bit of both. A lot of people probably got interested after Columbia and those who were already into it all made sure they had their ticket.
STS-114 will be my 8th in-person launch since '92 and I have never heard of tickets selling out like this. In fact, it was about 4 PM before I called KSC to reserve my ticket Monday. I had no idea they would sell out in one day!
Once NASA gets back on track with the 'regular' launch schedule, there shouldn't be a problem with tickets, although, I personally wish there was enough interest to sell-out every launch!
If you haven't, come over and see a shuttle launch. It's a sight you'll remember forever.

When I tried for the STS-98 launch, tickets were not a problem. Let the hype die down a bit, people will forget all about the space program again, then all of us fanatics will have an easy time getting tickets again.

..just planning WHEN to go, that's the hard part!

Pay $50 to watch a Shuttle launch???? When did this start? Where does all that money go? Interesting.

Hi Rick,
Truth be told it will cost a minimum of $47 to view a shuttle launch from the NASA causeway. But that also includes entry into the KSC visitor center, adding on everything that they have to offer; the bus tour, Rocket Garden, the Astronaut Encounter, two IMAX movies, etc. And if you spend $7 more, you get entrance to the Astronaut Hall of Fame, which has the wonderful G-Force Ride.
The actual price of the shuttle viewing ticket is $17.
I think $47 is a bargain, considering all you get to experience!
And lunarrv15, even though I've never sought one, from what I understand, vehicle passes are still issued. If you tried for the STS-114 launch it may be that they were already spent.
Hope this helps!
Rob

They are not issuing vehicle passes and have not since STS-108, for security reasons so far as we know.

I wish they would bring them back too.

That is correct.....ever since 911 and the elevated security levels they do not issue car passes to the public.

The KSCVC busses now take you to where you used to be able to go for free.
