March 11-20th at the UK National Maritime Museum/Royal Observatory. http://www.rog.nmm.ac.uk/ Not knowing this was on I went with my 5yr old yesterday and had a ball. As well as a rolling list of events - mostly for kids and "big kids" - there are permanent displays by many science agencies. We spent an age at the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council ("PPARC") display - the UK govt agency which covers what it says, plus space science. As well as a wealth of material on ESA programs they were running the latest visuals from Huygens. Plenty of opportunity to ask questions. (I can confirm that SMART 1 will NOT be able to spot the LEMs!). www.pparc.ac.uk The Royal Observatory nearby has a series of events, including public access to the telescopes. You could spend days here at the home of Greenwich Mean Time and 500 years of naval history. Paul Bramley | |
