The Ethics Board investigations complaints against UACC members and Registered Dealers (although Im currently working a case unrelated to UACC membership involving stolen property). Whilst theres not much we can do besides revoke membership we also try and communicate through the website and magazine those of ill ilk. Since I joined as an Ethics Board member, I am averaging about 5-7 complaints a WEEK. I and Garry King (from Autographica) split the Internet complaints (eBay etc) with him taking Europe and me the US. I have since been promoted to Chairman of the Ethics Board, and the caseload just keeps increasing. There are 2 other fine EB members who handle some internet and all other complaints. But as we all know with the explosion of fraud on eBay and elsewhere on the net, its become quite overwhelming. Hence the addition of another. And who better? Heck within an hour of being notified and accepting his appointment, SAZ DUDE managed to handle 2 UN solicited eBay violations! <LOL> Jeff, as for the mad props beanie, its a saying that developed on the astronauts yahoogroups. My kids would use an expression "give him props for that" slang for "give him PROPER RESPECT". We got silly over the years, and someone suggested a beanie as an identifier for group members (a la GEEKS) so the phrase finally became "a tip of the mad props beanie". Guess you had to be there. Al,Sounds to me like a full time job! It's ridiculous that the field of autographs has gotten to this point. Bring back the good old days when the autographs only value were sentimental and the odds that you had a legitimate autograph were much higher! The thrill of autograph collecting for me is NOT the so called "investment" factor because the reality is that there are much better places to "invest" your money. Good luck Al and Steve! Dan |

Thanks Dan,And I hear ya. Especially with the new fees some are charging, thats totally taken away the investment factor. It used to be they charged due to others making money off of them so this leveled the playing field, but any more? And yes it has to be the sentimental factor these days. Best, Al |
