The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center will extend their operating hours for approximately two weeks to accommodate students and families on spring break.

Beginning Fri., March 11, the Cosmosphere will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon. through Sat. and noon to 9 p.m. on Sun. until March 27.

IMAX® features now playing at the Cosmosphere include Forces of Nature, Extreme, and Ron Howard’s feature-length film re-mastered for the IMAX® format, Apollo 13: The IMAX Experience.

In addition, Cosmosphere staff developed two temporary exhibits now on display. Apollo 13: The Cosmosphere Connection exhibit showcases the many items Cosmosphere staff replicated for use in the movie. Cosmosphere staff provided their expertise on American space missions as well as built the command module, lunar module, the airtight pressure suits, and equipment used in the filming of Apollo 13.

The Return to Flight exhibit was designed to remember the Columbia accident as well as outline the efforts being made to return a shuttle and crew to flight. Causes of the Feb. 1, 2003, accident are outlined and the recommendations made by the Columbia Accident Investigation Board are displayed in detail for the public.

To check for ticket prices and showtimes during spring break hours, visit the Cosmosphere’s website at www.cosmo.org or call 620.662.2305 or 800.397.0330.

All times are CT (US)
