An interesting article was in yesterday's Wall Street Journal (April 11) concerning the Buran that has been stranded in Bahrain for two years. This was the Buran that was on exhibit in Australia several years ago. This Buran, BTS-002, one of about a dozen made by the Soviets, apparently made some glide tests but was not the Buran to orbit the earth in about 1987 (or so. . . I forget). I knew there was a reason the WSJ is sent to my classroom each day. Space! Garry |

Did the article give any indication of what might happen to it? They really did have a nice set-up for it in Sydney IMO. It is a shame it didn't do better there.------------------ Brian Peter astronautbrian@hotmail.com |

I think this topic was discussed on this bulletin board a while ago already. http://collectspace.com/ubb/Forum31/HTML/000038.html I remember the Museum of Technology in the German town of Sinsheim had acquired the bird. ------------------ Jürgen P Esders Berlin, Germany http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Astroaddies [This message has been edited by eurospace (edited April 13, 2005).] |
