Though a smaller increase than initially indicated, the president's FY06 budget request does include additional funding for NASA.

CEV is kept on track for 2008 fly-off, but cuts in several areas.

Whatever the budget, it's NOT enough to save the Hubble Space Telescope ... I really hope the Europeans will get first to Mars ... then the US might reconsider ;-)

Saving the Hubble won't get us any closer to Mars.The fact is, Hubble will cost a lot of $ to maintain and repair. We now have ground telescopes that are matching much of Hubble's capabillities. We also have the Next Generation space telescope under development. No need to be duplicating effort with the resultant costs. Push on with new projects. The ESA won't get people to Mars without a complete change in thinking and funding. Not likely.
