The death of the American TV night show host brings back memories of the Apollo 11 launch, which I attended. Johnny and his side-kick Ed McMahan viewed the Apollo 11 launch at the Cape on July 16, 1969 from the VIP site. I saw them in the bleachers and got a photo of them with the other guests, including former President Johnson.

Carson was interested in astronomy, according to some of the obituaries,as well as space.

In one of his interviews he claimed he always wanted to be involved with Space his entire life
