With preparations bringing the launch date closer for Discovery and STS-114, I was wondering if there was an FRF (Flight Readiness Firing) scheduled?
I remember NASA did in fact fire the 3 main engines on Discovery about 6 weeks prior to the STS-26 (Return To Flight) mission.

There will be no FRF, but there will be a full countdown dress rehearsal for the launch team including fueling of the external tank (currently scheduled for March 30).

NASA has stated that it is to test the foams endurance to fueling, but more recently said it's not for that so much as it is to get the launch team ready.

Anyone know why the scheduled launch date has been changed to Saturday, May 14? I read it was May 12 before, I believe on SpaceFacts, which was not surprising as most shuttle launches occur on Thursdays.

May 12 is just the processing target date for the workers to allow a two day buffer.

The actual available window opens May 14 with a launch time of about 4:11pm.

Anyone know if they are going to land at KSC or Edwards AFB? I know I had a chance to go to a Mode V class and didn't get to go. Not that I want to put the to use.

Landing is to be at KSC. KSC takes it over the smallest amount of land and people coming from the station, it appears. It will cross central America/Mexico and then Florida. EAFB would be California only, but I guess it's more of a danger.

All times are CT (US)
