Hi!Noticed this auction is coming up and has space items. See items starting 1104 in session 2. (November 3). (Go to icollectorlive.com; scroll down to Fine Selection of Autographs and Manuscripts - Session 2; then view catalog.) Any feedback? Is Alexander Autographs good for space-related stuff? Anybody had experience with them? Do you think the Roger Chaffee items are authentic? |

I just quickly scanned Alexander's session #2 space lots and saw no obvious problems, but much that was offered are pretty routine autographs: Cernans, Conrads, Fullertons, etc. And the Chaffee handwritten postcard to his parents - signed "Rog" - is from a batch of authentic written postcards that pop up occasionally that he sent to his parents. But the Chaffee signed 8x10" portrait offered by Alex in session #1, appears to be the usual Chaffee autopen. And also offered is another of the becoming-common Soyuz 11 cosmonaut signed postcards. A good rule of thumb is to be extra careful of astronaut autographs offered by general autograph dealers, as they have a history of poor authenticating of space autographs. It's an impressive site, but with at least one questionable astronaut signature offered, and the usual batch of Gagarin & other deceased cosmonaut signatures, you have to wonder a little about his other historical stuff. IMO, it appears that most general autograph dealers don't have the expertise necessary to deal properly with space material. Bob Mc. |

My recollection of their stuff is that they sell good, authentic autographs. They are a generalist, but there are lots of good generalists. | |
