It's been three decades since the last Apollo mission to the moon, and astronauts Eugene A. Cernan and Harrison H. "Jack" Schmitt reflect on that exciting trip at 8pm in the Lockheed Martin Imax Theater, NASM. Addmission is free, but tickets are required.

As of the date 03/01/03 all seating has been filled, however, there is still seating available for a live simalcast to accomodate an expected overflow crowd in the Planetarium on the second floor. But tickets are going fast.

According to the person I talked to on the phone, an announcement will be made next week some time on wether the astronauts will have time for a post lecture book signing.

See you there.

Phil

I am really looking forward to this! I got my tickets on the day that they put them on sale. I hope that they will be available for a book signing afterwards since I was planning on bringing my Cernan book to the lecture to see if I could get it signed. Btw, does Schmitt have a book out? I can't remember him ever writing one, although it would be interesting to read his thoughts about being the first scientist-astronaut.

Schmitt wrote the introduction to a book called 'Moon Missions' by William F Mellberg. When I saw him in Delft he was kind enough to sign it for me.

I asked him if he had any plans to write his own book about his experiences; he said that he'd been working on it on and off for the last twenty years, and could probably finish it in a year.

That was last year...

Cheers,
Matt
