It's that time again. Geekfest will be held this time at the Warner Robins Museum of Aviation, located in central Georgia, just below Macon. We have reserved a room for the day, February 8th, from 9-5, and invite everyone interested to come out and show off your collections, buy, sell, and trade space related items with other collectors. We are also trying to get WWII Aviation Ace Robert Scott to join us. He works at the museum, and authored the book, God is my Co-pilot. These get togethers have been a lot of fun in the past, and hope that those of you who can come, will come. There are a lot of great aircraft on display at the museum, including a B-29 and an SR-71 Blackbird. More information about the museum can be found at www.museumofaviation.org James |

Hi Friends-I'll be there, as I live very near Warner Robins. Great idea, Jimmy! In fact, if anyone is interested or has to drive through Macon (I-75) anyway, I live in downtown Macon, two blocks from the interstate, and would gladly open my house and offer food and drinks after the Warner Robins session. Also, my Apollo exhibit just ended its latest run at the local museum, and many of the pieces are back on the walls at my house, if anyone might be interested. Please let me know if anyone might want to do this... Best- Rob [This message has been edited by Rob Sumowski (edited January 02, 2003).] |

Once again, I would love to attend a geekfest away from Florida's Space Coast. Let me talk to my wife (Theresa) in joining me on such a possible visit, and it would be great to see everyone again and meet new collectors and talk up a "Space" storm. The schedule for the meet is perfect timing--Feb. 8th?--as there are currently no planned Shuttle missions or ELV flights throughout the entire month of February. Where is a good place to stay overnight that is near the museum, which by the way, I'll be looking forward to visiting the museum as well...Their museum website looks great! Generally speaking, at the show what would most collectors like to see, trade, etc. when it comes to space material so that I could have an idea of what to bring? By the way, Rob, I would love to see your Apollo exhibit--sounds great! Count me in and we'll certainly do our best to visit and see everyone (i.e. is Bob McLeod coming and how about Joel Katzowitz)? |

Ken, We all hope you can make it - I plan to go, too. There should be a lot of good motel possibilities in Warner Robins - nice town and great aviation museum. My trip there will be about 75 miles south on I-75; yours will be about 400 miles north mostly on I-75. Bob Mc. |

Ken- I'm looking forward to finally meeting you! Does everyone think the gathering at my house in Macon is something y'all would like to do? I haven't really had much feedback on the idea outside of Ken H. I just want to get some idea over the next couple of weeks (no rush) as to whether this is a good idea, how many mouths to feed, and how much beer to buy. Feel free to e-mail me at Rsumowski@aol.com with any ideas/feedback... Take care- Rob |

Rob,Sounds good to me. Also want to let everyone know, thanks to Al Hallonquist, Robert Scott has confirmed that he will join us at the museum for the get together. It's just 3 weeks away, and I hope that everyone who can come, will come. It's shaping up to be a great event. James |

Just a reminder that the get together is just over a week away, Sat. Feb. 8th. Again, Robert Scott has agreed to stop by and visit with us for a little while. The event starts at 9am, and ends at 5pm. If you are planning to come, and need directions, you can get them at the museum's website www.museumofaviation.org . I hope that everyone who can come will come, and don't forget to bring items to trade, sell, or just show.James |
