I am curious about the scarcity of an item in my collection. It's a black and white postcard showing the crew of Apollo 1 standing in their spacesuits. A "We Appreciate Our Servicemen" stamp was placed on the right side of this image, and it was postmarked "Jamaica, NY / A.M.F. Kennedy" with the date Jan. 27, 1967. The place was Kennedy Airport in NYC, and the date is of course that of the Apollo 1 fire.

I wouldn't think that there are too many Apollo 1 items postmarked on the day of the fire, especially in the east since the fire occurred at 6:30 p.m. Or is this a common item?

Clyde Sarzin produced these cards and also covers cancelled at Port Washington, NY for the Apollo 1 fire date. These are relatively common and can be found from $2-$10.

While having something canceled on the Apollo 1 fire date is relatively rare, the fact that these are cancelled 1000 miles from the place of the event at a location with no significance to the event itself makes them more of a curiosity than anything else.
