Space Cover of the Week, Week 230 (September 9, 2013)

Space Cover 230: Pioneer Venus Large Probe Parachute Test

This week's Space Cover of the Week commemorates the tests of the large probe's parachute systems. These tests took place on December 13 and 16, 1976 at White Sands Missle Range.

Both tests failed with the simulated payloads crashed. After modifications, the last test was held on May 19, 1977 which proved the modifications.

Very nice covers John.

This is the Muscateers companion cover to John's. It sports a WSMR manual postmark instead of very common WSMR mechanical pmk.
