Numbered EZ 8C1 in the e-z catalog, the cover of "the first American rocket plane" on February 23, 1936, was the first rocket mail to cross the interstate. It flies from New York to New Jersey.

I have learned that: Souvenir cover circulation of 4,323, postcard circulation of 1,826.

Although this rocket plane didn't reach a certain height, can this envelope and postcard be used in the space shuttle stamp collection? As a pre-shuttle historical narrative?

In Astrophilately, elements determine whether an envelope is part of the precursor story. The date and location on the circle date stamp should correspond to an important event in the history of space flight. The vehicle should use technology required outside the atmosphere.

Pressure suits (Wiley Post), self-contained stratospheric gondolas (Piccard), and rocket powered missiles (V-2) all qualify. Attaining a requisite altitude is needed to say an item has been in space. Your rocket cover is indeed part of the Astrophilately precursor story.
