I have added some new hand painted covers on my website. All the cachets are totally hand made, worked under the magnifying glass with nibs and brushes. Pigments used are inks and gouaches. In the darkness some features are photoluminiscent (glow in the dark pigments). The postmarks and stamps are originals from the respective period and places. Comments are welcome! ------------------ Alec Bartos President of Astrophilatelic Commission of Romanian Philatelic Federation Member of ASSS, Space Unit, ASITAF |

I really like the hand sketch style you've used for your illustrations. I think my favorite example is the patch treatment you did for the Apollo 1 fire cachet. Very nice work. |

Thanks Joel, my intention is to keep the feel of the cover not making it a painting. If the cover is from the 60's the design should prompt that period. The colors the fonts and the style. As for the subject, I try to use my astrophilatelic knowledge and to make Cachets not only paintings on covers. When possible I try to illustrate important but little known or never illustrated facts about the particular mission. Take for example the Gemini X cover. Mike Collins lost the Hasselblad camera during GT-X, and the drawing from the right side of the cover resembles Young's drawing when returned to earth (Astronaut Young draws diagram on chalk board of tethered extravehicular activity accomplished during Gemini 10 flight). In the Apollo 1 cachet design I've introduced the flight plan that miraculously survived the fire in the capsule. etc. |

Nice work here, Alec. Makes me want to get out my pens and pencils and see if I could do something similar... although my art skills were/are NEVER to be considered "art" skills! HA! Keep it up (as if you needed the encouragement)! And feel free to keep adding to your website, because I just bookmarked it to watch your work. Thanks for sharing! |

Very nicely done. I especially like the designs for Gemini 7/6 and the Liberty Bell 7 USS Randolph (although the fact that it is postmarked on an embossed envelope raises the possibility of a Riser forgery. I do not remember if Riser used this particular embossed envelope for his forgeries). |

As someone says "When I'm done, I'd like your feedback. Tell me if I was brilliant or simply outstanding." Thank you spaceman. Of course I need encouragement. Feedback is good even it is criticism as long it is objective and sincere. |

Thank you for your appreciations. And yes it is a Riser fake. That's the reason that I've used the UV pigment. Riser was busted with an sign made with UV marker. And the address I've wrote on the cover and which is visible only with the UV light is the address where it's supposed he produce the fake covers. |
