"First men would have been more accurate and appropriate" - Buzz Aldrin, from his book Magnificent Desolation.

I personally tend to agree on this one, any other thoughts?

Agreed as there were two "men" first on the moon during the same mission.

I think First Man is appropriate. While two men did land on the moon, one man was first to set foot on the moon.

To be precise Armstrong set boot on the Moon not foot. Landing was the big deal, not who got out first.

I guess all the references and PR from NASA are/were wrong that man set foot on the moon.

Landing was a big deal, and two men did land on the moon with Apollo 11. One man however was the first to set foot on the moon, an even bigger deal.

Mr. Aldrin comes across as small and petty always trying to make sure he receives recognition along with Mr. Armstrong. I for one am glad Mr. Armstrong was first man on the moon as he has allowed the accomplishment to stand on it's own without needing to continually draw attention to himself as Mr. Aldrin has done.

Ironically, the man who made that first step would strongly disagree with you.

Yes he would. Which is why I am glad he was the first man.
