I collect space shuttle launch covers and I like to prepare them myself so that I can add space related stamps to the covers. Ever since STS-26 the covers have always came back with a hand cancel with three killer bars. All the covers I sent out prior to STS-26 had a machine cancel. I would like to get my covers machine cancelled. If anyone prepares covers please let me know where to send or If I just ask for machine cancels on my covers. I have always sent to Potmaster KSC, FL. I have a relative that has someone get launch covers for him and his covers are either machine cancelled or hand cancelled with no killer bars. |

The recommended address for sending covers for Space Shuttle launch-dated cancels follows: Postmaster USPS/ATS Kennedy Space Center, FL 32815-9998 Put on the outside of the envelope you send the covers in: "Philatelic Material" and also what you desire, such as: "STS-108 Launch/machine cancels."You must enclose with the covers to be canceled a larger self-addressed, stamped envelope. Your canceled covers will be returned inside the SASE, which will protect them from damage, extra cancels and bar codes. |

Another source to obtain Space Shuttle crew-mission emblem cachet covers is from the NASA vendor that supplies all the Shuttle cachet envelopes -- Ken Havekotte's SpaceCoast Cover Service on Merritt Island, FL. Upcoming Shuttle cachet mission covers can be ordered direct by sending a #10 SASE for receiving up to a dozen uncancelled covers. Even postmarked (for KSC launch day) cachet covers are also available along with a postage-paid return stamped envelope. Any quantity of cachet covers, both mint (uncancelled) and postmarked for launch and even landing activities can be ordered at any time while supplies last. |

I know at the NASA causeway there's a guy from the Post Office, but if you can't get there who do you contact to buy some? I figure it must be near by Post Office.Editor's note: Threads merged | |
