What is the correct address for the Astronaut Trail Station Post Office at Titusville FL?

Anyone know the date when the first use of the "Astronaut Trail Station" cancel took place?

Don't have the address of the Astronaut Trail Station Post Office.

However, the first day of use of the Astronaut Trail Station hand cancel is June 1, 1969, I have a few with different Heritage Crafts printed cachets.

I have a conflicting uncancelled cacheted envelope that reads: "U.S. Post Office, First Day of Operation, June 2, 1969. Astronaut Trail Station Titusville Florida 32780, on the Astronaut Trail."

Notice the two dates are different, I just looked at the 1969 calendar and June 1st is a Sunday, and I doubt the Postoffice was open on Sunday so maybe these dated covers are favor cancels. With June 2nd being a Monday that would most likely be the official date of use.

Maybe someone else could clear this up?

It's an interesting question as to whether that location still bears the "Astronaut Trail" designation -- the original Titusville Astronaut Trail Station on Broad Street has been closed for some time. The old Astronaut Trail signs were also removed from the area many years ago. I bet Ken Havekotte will know.

Yes, the original Astronaut Trail Station post office is no longer in operation on Main Street, right across the street from the US Space Walk of Fame museum. It was closed only a few years ago. Their postmark devices are kept at the Titusville Postal Store on Harrison Street, along with other T-ville area philatelic devices of all shapes and sizes.

The first use of their astronaut trail handstamp, as Joe said, was on June 1-2, 1969, right in time for use during Apollo 11's first manned lunar landing mission in July of the same year.

We visited the US Space Walk of Fame Museum only a few weeks ago, well worth visiting, it already seems like a few months ago now. Even though the Post Office is clearly marked as closed and vacant people were still parking up outside and trying the door.

The address for obtaining KSC hand stamp cancels for Shuttle events is below. They will cancel five (5) stamped covers that are accompanied by an SASE for their return. They have provided a professional and reliable service for many years.
