This picture of the seven-member Expedition 67 crew can be seen in the NASA blog. Is there any information about the emblem placed on the right arm of Oleg Artemyev's suit? |

It is All-Russian Sambo Federation's insignia patch. Sambo is a Russian martial art with Soviet origins, an internationally practiced combat sport, and a recognized style of amateur wrestling included by UWW in the World Wrestling Championships along with Greco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling. |

I wonder what the martial arts SAMBO patch has to do with the ISS, Russian space travel or with Oleg Artemyev? Why did he have this patch when taking the photo of the ISS Exp. 67 crew carried in Harmony module? |

I had a conversation about cosmonauts and martial arts last year (it was a possible patch idea) but I have lost the email thread. Several cosmonauts practice, but I don't recall who they were. |

For what it is worth (if anything), Artemyev flew and displayed a flag for the 80th anniversary of Sambo on his last mission in 2018. |
