Jones1 New Member Posts: 9 From: UK Registered: Mar 2008	posted 03-12-2023 04:33 AM I was wondering if anybody knows when Charlie Duke offered for sale the Apollo 16 "CMD" embroidered patch? This seems to have been a limited edition patch with his initials on the lunar surface. Charlie still sells the mission patch on his site, but it seems to be lacking the CMD initials. Any info would be appreciated.

I had asked the very same question over a year ago before purchasing and was informed by someone on the website's contact the patch was indeed hallmarked. The patch arrived shortly after ordering and was hallmarked with CMD. For some unknown reason the patch shown on the website is not hallmarked.

Weren't they limited to a small number and called crew patches? And if they're new (manufactured recently) are they being marked to differentiate from the originals? Thank you.
Robert Pearlman Editor Posts: 50096 From: Houston, TX Registered: Nov 1999	posted 03-12-2023 11:41 AM The Apollo 16 "crew patch" was 4 inches and did not have a hallmark. This "CMD" patch is 5 inches and was produced for Charlie Duke decades after the mission.

KSCartist Member Posts: 3039 From: Titusville, FL Registered: Feb 2005	posted 03-12-2023 06:12 PM I produced the Apollo 16 “CMD” patch and one that had “ASF” for Charlie when he headed up the ASF around the time of the 40th anniversary of his mission in 2012.
