SpaceX insignia for its in-flight test of the Crew Dragon's launch escape capabilities from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Interestingly, the use of the "worm" logotype here does not adhere to several of NASA's published rules, including:
  • Against black or very dark value backgrounds, the NASA Logotype should always be shown in white.

  • The NASA Logotype should not be incorporated into or appear inside another logo or shape.

  • The NASA Logotype should not appear with names of private companies or private company logos in violation of co-branding restrictions.

  • Any imagery shown with the NASA Logotype must stay within the context of the era in which it existed (between 1976-1992).

The times they are a changin'...

I'm thinking that we'll see more new and different ways to integrate NASA and private companies in logos and other merchandise moving forward. Of course, NASA should be keen to update their policies too.
