The Apollo 11 patch could be prominently seen on Parkland school shooting survivor Emma González's jacket during the March For Our Lives in Washington, DC on Saturday (March 24).

I noticed on the news yesterday. It just seems to be one of those modern day flight jackets with NASA related patches that are selling as a fashion statement.

Perhaps, but if so, she seems to have chosen to keep the Apollo 11 patch while replacing or covering the others with non-space insignia.

And she seems to be continually adding to the jacket. Here is an earlier photo:

It's a cool patch that might actually remind people of something we did great at one time.

The jacket reminds me of the one that the character Ace wore in the classic Doctor Who.

I guess, as she is from Florida, she may be a space enthusiast, or an aviation enthusiast, or both. According to Wikipedia, she is also the tracking team leader on Project Aquila, a mission to send a school-made weather balloon "to the edge of space."

Another of the Parkland students, David Hogg, took to Twitter this morning in reaction to an Elon Musk tweet about today's Falcon 9 launch, sharing more about his and Emma González's interest in spaceflight.
I saw FH lift off and the two boosters land. I was so overwhelmed I nearly cried.

Emma and I are total space nerds. We really became friends through [teacher] @KyleJeter's Astronomy club at our school.
