What is known about the Man-Systems Division framed displays of space shuttle astronauts' worn mission patches? These displays read:
Man-Systems Division presents to [Name of Astronaut, Title of Astronaut], this original patch worn during your STS-[XX] mission.
From the examples I have been able to find online (and gathered here), it appears to have begun with STS-1 and continued through STS-61B (and likely STS-61C). Were they still being presented after STS-51L? If not this exact presentation, did astronauts receive their worn mission patches in some other format for missions in 1988 and onward?

When were these patches presented? Was there a particular event?

Man-Systems Division was still around for STS-41. Now it is Crew and Thermal Systems Division.

The Man-Systems Division was a part of the Life Sciences Directorate. The Crew Systems Division which has existed since the Gemini days, and later evolved into today's Crew and Thermal Systems Division (CTSD), has always been a part of the Engineering Directorate. I worked the majority of my career in CTSD, and if memory serves, there was a reorganization of the Life Sciences Directorate in the ~1992 (or 93?) timeframe and the functions/responsibilities of the Man-Systems Division were redistributed among other JSC Divisions.

The wording is a bit unclear to me. Does that mean this is the actual patch removed from their flight suit or is it representative of the type as worn on their flight?

My understanding is that these are the actual patches that the astronauts wore, removed from their flight suits post-mission. If so, the presentations continue a tradition that began during Apollo.

I think you are correct Robert.

When I worked in Crew & Thermal Systems Division, our NASA+Contractor team would prepare similar commemorative presentations for the EVA crew members. The mission patch and the red/white crew ID stripes were removed from the EMUs post-flight, arranged in a nice frame, and presented to the crew in a formal ceremony.

I believe this tradition continues today.
