Here is the first look at the Soyuz MS-21 crew (Oleg Artemyev, Denis Matveyev and Sergei Korsakov) patch (via Twitter) and Sergei Korsakov on Instagram:

Spacecraft will be called "Korolyov" and mission will be called "Launch by Baumansky Start." All crew members are graduates of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

Would note that the emblem is based upon the arms of Bauman Moscow State Technical University (seen on the far left screen above).

My friends from Glavkosmos sent me this photo of the MS-21 main crew and backups to share with collectors. They managed to have a very high quality of embroidery!

Is there a more detailed explanation regarding the patch; e.g. who should represent the head and what meaning does it have?

The general design is based on the logo of the Bauman University where all crew members studied. The portrait represents Sergei Korolev, after whom the spacecraft is named.

The March 18, 2022 launch date will also mark the 57th anniversary of Alexei Leonov's first spacewalk.
