Account executive Kati Phelps retired from A-B Emblem on Friday (Dec. 20), after 41 years with the embroidered patch company.

Although not a collectSPACE member (yet!), Kati has been a friend to this site, sharing news about upcoming NASA mission insignias, tips about the background of A-B produced emblems and most recently, seeing us through the production of our first logo patches.

I know many here will join me in wishing Kati the best in her retirement.

Yes, Kati is a really fine lady who always took the time to answer space emblem related questions.

41 years within one company... that's great.

I wish her all the best — mainly health as this is the most important which you can have — for her future.

Kati went above and beyond when a question came her way. Her depth of knowledge of her companiy's product line will leave immense shoes to fill. I wish her the best.

I wish Kati all the best. Designing and producing patches is one thing, but actually getting them on time in the place where they are needed, sometimes proves to be a real challenge. Especially if that place is orbiting Earth at an amazing speed and altitude and multiple countries and space agencies are involved. Sometimes, things have to be done a little bit differently to save precious time and catch the scarcely available transport ships up there. Thanks for all your help Kati!

Kati started at A-B about the time I started collecting patches. She was always very helpful. Thanks and enjoy your retirement!

I have had the great pleasure of working with Kati on a couple of projects for us over the years. Just this September she helped us with the creation of our first patch design, a patch for our personal collection we have titled the "Karst-onian Kollection".

She was wonderfully patient with our questions and her insight as well as direction lead to a wonderful looking patch. What a super professional lady, I trust she will enjoy her retirement as much as we have enjoyed working with her all these years.

Kati has definitely earned herself a long and happy retirement. My various replica patches would likely never have seen the light of day without her expert help, and certainly wouldn't have been as accurate without her patience and dedication. A wonderful lady.

Oh no! 41 years - I was in high school then. I'm 58 now - that's quite a run. Since 1999 AB Emblem has been making my fictional Moonstar space shuttle patches and Kati was my account rep for the past two years and final four patches.

While all the AB account reps I've had over those years were very helpful Kati's familiarity with space matters made it easier to explain some of my embroidery requests. She was a pleasant lady to work with. I wish her all the best in retirement.

Kati also shepherded the AB Emblem Gemini patch remakes project from beginning through completion. It was great working with her.

Actually posted it a couple of days ago.

I have to say Kati was a BIG help in getting it from the artwork to a real patch. Super lady.

I was just thinking that I bet there are posts similar to this, deserved praising her work, on Scouting and First Responder patch forums around the internet, too.

I dealt with Kati on several occasions regarding AB space patches. She was the definition of professional: Pleasant, courteous, and always helpful. It seems cliche to say customer service pros like her are a dying breed, but in my profession at least, it certainly seems that way sometimes.

Anyway, here's wishing Kati a long, happy, and very well-earned retirement.
