ISS Expedition 49 mission patch

The International Space Station's (ISS) Expedition 49 begins with the scheduled undocking of Soyuz TMA-20M in September 2016. New crew members will arrive shortly thereafter on Soyuz MS-02.

Expedition 49 will be commanded by Roscosmos cosmonaut Anatoli Ivanishin. His crewmates include Roscosmos cosmonauts Andrei Borisenko and Sergey Ryzhikov, NASA astronauts Kate Rubins and Shane Kimbrough, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Takuya Onishi.

Cindy did an awesome job! I tried to illustrate an aurora on one of my STS-62A designs in 1985.

She did a much better job!

Very nice indeed. It must be difficult to come up with something original for the designs. This I think succeeds wonderfully. Great color pallette as well. I've just received the ISS 46 revised patch, what a let down.

Rendering the northern lights is a big challenge and she nailed it. Bravo.

It will look good as a decal but I wonder how much it will lose in the patch with the threads.

I love the color choice. It is something really different from the norm.

I saw already the patch and can state the embroidery is FINE!

And for fun Russian cosmonauts called the logo "PENICILYN."

If they improved the stitching just a bit on the names I think it would be just right. It looks a little wavey, in the Cyrillic in particular, on this example. The aurora did hold up well in thread.

Patches that will fly on onboard clothing have NO product code. They were embroidered in Weaverville on January 13, 2016.
