I recently received a flown STS-129 patch, and I would like to have it framed, however I would like to have it framed in a portable way, in the sense that it could be moved easily, similar to the hard cases that are used in sport card collecting. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could do?

Also, I noticed that one the back of the patch, beneath the adhesive coating, there is a sticker saying "153407 09/09 20". Does anyone know what that means? Thank you!

The label is placed there by the manufacturer, in this case AB Emblem, to comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008. The act requires manufacturers to permanently affix tracking labels to most products marketed to children (in this case, the patches are gift shop souvenirs).

The labels are required by law to include the date (or date range) of production and location of production to make it easier for consumers to identify the source of recalled products.

Thank you both for your response. And for any future viewers of this post, I believe that I have solved the problem. I looked online and found an acrylic, UV-blocking postcard display case, similar to the hard cases that are used to hold trading cards. I plan on purchasing on of those, and then creating a cardboard mat to hold the patch in place, and perhaps put a label if I have room.

You can check out the system I came up with in this item I have on eBay right now (190803811062). It works awesome. I can store it in a a binder or display it in a frame. Also you can let people handle your patch and check it out close up without any harm coming to it.

Have a look at my eBay listing #130803964244.

These frames are perfect for displaying coins, patches, pins, etc.

If interested let me know - I can get them in different sizes.

This frame offers a completely new way of setting the stage for your collectible items. The Special feature of these frames are two transparent, flexible silicone membranes which surround the item(s) softly and create the impression that they levitate inside the frame. At the same time you have un-restricted view of the reverse and obverse sides of the item(s). The material is very flexible and adapts completely to the surface of the items(s) and keeps them in their place.

These frames look like the Nimbus Frames from Lindner and the Z-Access Frames by the Lewibelle Company.

All times are CT (US)
