A possible sighting of the Shenzhou IX mission patch. The logo probably reads TG-1/SZ-9 mission.As for the crew members, we do not know if this is the prime or back up crew.  |

That is the patch engineers will be wearing. Since Shenzhou 7, the engineers' patch and the one the crew wears are not the same. |

Good photos of the patch below. It seems to be a woven patch, not embroidered. Can anyone elaborate on the significance of the two dragons?

Only a guess, but if you look at the mouths of the two dragons, they resemble the two docking configurations, one with an open mouth and the other with a protruding tongue (?), mimicking the male and female connections. |

The patch with the dragons looks great, very "Chinese"! Is there any chance for us people in the western world to buy the original patch anywhere? |

Highly unlikely. The Chinese manned space authority is nothing like NASA, there are no PR materials and the patches are primarily made to cater for technicians and officials. |

To be clear: the original was created by an unknown, Chinese artist. Jorge RE-created it, based on the best known sources so far. He recently also made better versions of some older Soyuz and Mir patches, which replaced earlier versions on Joachim's website. Note that Jorge added his initials JCR, so that future generations will be able to distinguish between the originals and Jorge's drawings. |

I'm only gifting you my best REPRODUCTIONS of them, clarifying from the beginning ("JCR") that I'm NOT who made them. I'm only a guy who tries to draw something very difficult or impossible to find. |

I have posted two new images of this patch on our Flickr photostream. One is a photo taken under an angle, which I tried to flatten as much as possible; the other is a scan of the same patch with not too high resolution. |
