I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the Space Station Freedom patch. Does anyone think it should belong in an ISS patch collection or is it not really an ISS patch?

Same here. While I do collect ISS/Expedition patches, I have no plans at present to frame or otherwise display them as it's an ongoing program. Hypothetically, if I were to do so, I probably wouldn't include the Freedom patch.

For me, since I have some of those myself, I place them with my ISS collection. However, they are sorted of arranged as pre-ISS.

Now, in that relationship, you have to remember that there were the different program names, space station, Space Station Alpha, Space Station freedom and a few patches were made for each program era.

Recently Spaceboosters had that Space Station patch out on eBay, nice hole filler. I had picked up some of Randy Hunt's "Alpha" series (the "Jack Ass") way back then as well. So there is a place for in the ISS collection I would think.

The Alpha series was Randy Wagner's, of Eagle One Aerospace.

I like to display my on going mission patches on a big sheet of felt, held on with a couple of drops of white glue and put them up as the mission ends. I hope to find something more permanent when the program ends, but I haven't figured out what to do with all the shuttle patches yet.

But, Freedom is not with my ISS mission patches.

Regarding these patches I think it is part of the history of that program. Therefore I do collect them as part of the ISS history.

As always each collector has to decide whether or not those patches should be part of his collection.

But I do not collect these patches related to the "Alpha" series.

If memory serves, I think (could be wrong as it's been a while since I looked at them) there two versions of the Freedom patch as well. One was rectangular and the other was a parallelogram. Again, I could be wrong. This is from memory...
