I joined this wonderful forum to find an answer a question a Google search can't seem to answer. I'm looking into see if any of the ISS assembly flight emblems exist as patches.

I know there are poor looking versions from Malaysia on eBay for a ridiculous price of $15 each. I've also seen very large (2'x2') versions made that Mission Control members hold up for group photos after missions.

If there aren't any patches, what about decals possibly?

The ISS assembly flight emblems were created by the team responsible for manifesting and managing the payload on each of the shuttle ISS assembly flights.

In speaking with team members, if patches (or pins or decals) were produced, they were limited in number and generally intended only for team members. They were never authorized for production to be sold to the public.

The large versions you see in the Mission Control photos are plaques, which hung near the flight director console during the mission and then placed permanently on the ISS flight control room wall during post-flight ceremonies.

That's too bad. I'd love a good, well-produced AB set of these emblems.

I know of 61 of these ISS assembly and payload patches. I have managed to acquire 30 of these 61 patches, and quite a number of them where manufactured by AB Emblems.

A few of these patches do get listed on eBay now and then, and I don't mean the ones from Malaysia.

Anyone can pay to have AB Emblem make a patch and that is what has happened in this instance (at least in a number of instances of which I am aware). In fact, a number of the authentic, made-for-the-program patches were not manufactured by AB Emblem.

As such, I would suggest considering any patch found on eBay or elsewhere as an (unauthorized) souvenir unless accompanied by provenance tracing it back to the program.

What are you including to account for the additional 21 emblems above the 40 ISS assembly flights? Resupply mission patches?

I would probably say yes on both counts to that Robert.

I could also add quite a few more ISS associated patches to that list. But it's a job to know where to exactly draw the line on that one.

All the patches I have acquired have come from U.S. sources, I have resisted the temptation to buy the Malaysian ones so far. Some of the sellers I have bought from have said they were or are associated with the ISS and shuttle programs, and others are well known eBay and AB Emblem sellers and some are members of this forum.

I am listing all the ISS Assembly patches I know about in mission flight order. Most are AB Emblem made;
