My next and last replica patch project before the summer will be a replica of the blue Gemini project patch. This has been in production for a while and should be ready in the next few weeks.

Don't confuse this with a similar effort — a patch based on the NASA Gemini project insignia artwork — which by coincidence seems to have appeared recently on eBay. Mine is a straight replica of the rare blue background Gemini project patch.

Congrats, this is a really nice looking patch!

But what's the best way to differentiate this replica from the real deal?

The replica has a plastic backing so it should never be possible for someone who has the patch in front of them to mistake it for a vintage original.

If you only have an image of the front, well I do try to get the details as close as possible but text is always a struggle. The replica doesn't have the white stitches that link the letters of the original and the lettering on the replica is slightly different. The Gemini symbol on the replica is also a bit too neat compared with the original.

Thanks, Chris...good to know, especially when a replica patch resembles the original as well as this one does; fantastic job.

The blue background Gemini project replica mentioned above is now available as a pre-order now. See this thread for details.

Chris, Great work on the patch and it made a nice finishing touch to my Gemini patch collection.

What a nice presentation of the Gemini replica patches! I arranged mine around Tim Gagnon's Gemini Commemorative Patch. But where did you get the white bordered NASA meatball patch? Is it an old original patch or a modern replica?

Wowza. I'm experiencing what collectors like us would call Patch Envy.

Great Gemini presentation.

What I like is that the Gemini 3 and 4 patches, although never worn by the crew in flight are the ones that the crew prefer. And the others are represented by patches as they were worn by the crew in flight. (i.e. Gemini 7 without names).

Would buy a copy of that in a minute!

All times are CT (US)
