So what are we to gather from this? Seller lists items - 180668039647 - despite poor photography looks like Universal Commemoratives' Apollo 1, 11, 12, Meatball and Sealab patches, starting price $25. Elicits 1 bid. Interested? I was. The Apollo 1 doesn't appear very often, the Sealab I've never seen before although I know of its connection with Scott Carpenter. Might be in for a bid. Auction lasts one day before being re-listed, starting price $250. Oh well, there goes another bargain. Still, seems like a more realistic price which is only fair to the seller. After all, everyone likes to make a reasonable profit, don't they. Hang on, what's happening now? The Apollo 1 and Sealab has been re-listed - 180668606497 - starting price $750, the 11 (or is it the 12?) - 180668607943 - $350 and the 12 (or is it the 11?) and Meatball - 180668607264 - $400. So from $25 to $1500 in the space of a few days. Dream on. I've picked up the 11 and 12 Universal Commemoratives patches this year (including both the 11 variants) for a total of $144 so why do sellers think collectors are going to pay these ridiculous prices? We're not are we? Seriously though, perhaps we should ask ourselves what we, as collectors, are prepared to pay and compile some sort of pricing guide (along the lines of Overstreet) based on rarity, condition, provenance etc. Admittedly, it might take some of the fun out of the game and Chris might get less site traffic but it has to be in our own interests surely. I'd be interested to hear what you guys think. |

Hi Besixdouze, I think this is partly down to my fault as I have been in commumication with the seller Rich, (Richard), 650mister56 (42). But I think he has got the wrong end of the stick regarding my advice to look at Chris Spain's website. I gave him the reference numbers, [AS1UNK1], [AS11UC2] and [AS12UC], but he has only looked at the top of each page and thought the top 'Crew' patch in each case was his. (Hence the OTT or as Chris put it 'Extreme-Relisting' starting prices).I will try to put right this problem tonight. Up-date: E-mail sent and replyed to. Watch out for the appropriate changes. Could you e-mail me so I can pass on the e-mails I have from and to Rich. |

Kevin, you're a capital fellow. I had a feeling the seller had been somehow misinformed as to what these patches might be worth but you can never be sure. Cynic that I am, I was expecting a re-listing of the Apollo 1 with a Buy It Now price of $350 and some poor, unsuspecting punter purchasing it and concluding he had walked away with a bargain! |

Rich has now corrected the lot 'Titles' for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 lots, but he dose not want to reduce the starting prices yet, as he wants to see if he receives any bids.Update: He didn't get any, what a surprise! |

Rich has now re-listed all 3 lots at half the last starting prices, still too expensive though at: - $375.00 for the Apollo 1 [AS1UNK1] + Navy Sealab Patch.
- $150.00 for the Apollo 11 [AS11UC2].
- $200.00 for the Apollo 12 [AS12UC] + UC NASA 'Meatball'.

By the summer he should start reaching a realistic price for these patches... |

Summer could be coming earlier than we think Chris. The starting prices have come down yet again, but still not enough. He has also added Buy It Now prices to each of the three lots. But I don't think he will get any buyers. No Buyers or bidders! |

These patches have now been re-listed yet again at lower and more realistic starting prices. - $130.00 for the Apollo 1 [AS1UNK1] + Navy Saelab Patch.
- $65.00 for the Apollo 11 [AS11UC2].
- $90.00 for the Apollo 12 [AS12UC] + UC NASA Meatball Patch.

Well, those prices look about right so I don't think he should feel too disappointed considering only 2 people seemed that interested. Hope the buyer/s had reasonably good Photoshop skills or at least asked for some more images because they were some of the poorest examples I've seen posted. |

I did think about bidding this morning for the Apollo 1 patch with the Navy Sealab patch, but in the end thought they were still far too expensive.I was hoping they would not sell again and be re-listed at a lower start price, but it wasn't to be. Maarten had deep pockets. I did ask Rich (the seller) for larger close-up images of the lots. But all I got back was a larger version of the same image. |

Kevin, pleased to meet you! I'm not a frequent poster on this forum although I visit the site regularly. Not sure about those 'deep pockets', but I thought the price was about right and didn't want to miss out. But I too hesitated and thought about waiting for a lower relisting.I consider myself a serious collector and really wanted to add this Apollo-1 patch to my collection. |

Pleased to meet you too Maarten.Rich (the seller) was going to drop the starting prices again if nobody had bid. I was waiting until the Apollo 1 and Navy Sealab patches were about $50.00 to $75.00 starting price, then I would of bid on that lot. |
