Roscosmos has released the design of the Soyuz TMA-17 crew patch, based on drawings produced by Dong Yue and Oleg Golovin as part of the ongoing children's competition of designing crew patches.

The two TMA-17 artists - who happened to be the 2nd and 3rd prize winners of the TMA-16 competition - are shown in this image together with TMA-16 designer Nastya Mestyashova (left), Sergei Krikalev and Mr. Perminov.

Soyuz TMA-17 commander Oleg Kotov was specific in his comments during our interview together that while including the children's artwork, his own ideas went into the creation of this patch.

It's a cute design. The first in recent memory that doesn't place surnames in the order in which they will sit in the spacecraft.

Cute, simply and very nice. I can't wait to get one for my collection. Once again, congratulations Luc.

Some simple yet beautiful designs being produced here. Getting the children involved has so many benefits... probably least of all some great additions to our collections.

This ebay listing offers an unauthorised reproduction of the Soyuz TMA-17 patch.

The official patch will be available for collectors through Spacepatches.nl in December.

Many thanks for this posting. Its always tempting to rush off and buy a replica, but your well timed posting has prevented a moment of rashness in favour of waiting for the real deal. Please continue to keep us posted.
