Roscosmos release
Head of Federal Space Agency A. Perminov presented Soyuz TMA-18 crew emblem

Today, during a press briefing held after a New Year's conversation with the crew aboard the International Space Station from Russia's Mission Control, Federal Space Agency chief A.N. Perminov revealed the crew patch for the Soyuz TMA-18 spacecraft, which is scheduled to launch to the ISS in spring 2010...

© Roscosmos/Spacepatches.nl

By tradition, the patch design incorporates an element from a child's drawing; ten year old Nastya Berezutski's depiction of a Soyuz over the earth acts as a backdrop to the (anonymous) Soyuz crew, ready for liftoff.

I notice that this patch is a Roscosmos/Spacepatches.nl copyrighted design.
Will spacepatches.nl be offering their usual excellent service of supplying collectors directly?

Yes, we will make the patches (from the same batch as worn by the crew) available to collectors again around launch day.

Maybe they can plaster the Sears name on the Soyuz as a sponsor!

And who (if any) is producing a pin version of all those patches? Sorry I'm new to the pins' world.

As far as I can remember there was never pins of the TMA missions. (Only Panchenkos's TMA-7 had one). I wish there were...

I don't believe our Dutch friends (or Russians) did copy Sears advertising to make this patch... And I like it very much: It's very inventive. My congrats guys!

Never thought they copied anything, just one of those strange coincidences.

Please note that the crew is wearing the proof patches on their Sokol suits!

The second patch above is the back up patch. As usual, it needed to be "neutral" to accomodate any crew make up in case of replacements. Artwork was uploaded last week to Spacefacts.de

This is not about TMA-18, but does anyone yet know about the TMA-19 patch and when it will be unveiled? I want one when it comes out because of Shannon Walker being on it. I have a thing for her last name.

David, the Soyuz TMA-19 logo still has to be approved. This will probably happen next week. (Update: approved March 15).

My guess is that the artwork will be revealed somewhere during TMA-18 prelaunch activities (Update: it will be a little later).
