collectSPACE readers are familiar about my desire to contribute to our space program. Waiting 31 years to see my first crew patch fly just made the experience that much sweeter. Being able to help make Jorge's (KAPTEC) dream come true is karma at it's best. He's an incredible talent and we enjoy bouncing ideas off each other. We have been partners for almost two years now and I thought it was time that we had our own logo. As you can see without too much explanation it depicts a sailing ship similar to Columbus' sailing from east to west towards the "New World". On the western hemisphere is a new ship - the Space Shuttle launching towards the New World of space. Our initials and flags illustrate who we are and our partnership. Our initials are illustrated orbiting the Earth as our artwork has done twice and will at least four more times. Editor's note: For those unfamiliar, Tim Gagnon (KSCArtist) designed the Expedition 11 crew patch. Together with Jorge Cartes (KAPTEC), they then went on to design the STS-126, STS-127 and Expedition 22 insignias, among other yet to be announced designs. |
