Once again, partway through an on-going mission (STS-122), another mission patch is released. Here is STS-126: |

I like that it is in the shape of the Leonardo MPLM. |

Nice patch; it also seems to have some similarities to one of the STS-62A artwork. |

Very early. I was originally expecting the STS-125 patch to be out about now but everything seems to be coming out faster, including crew photos.If they keep revealing patches and crew photos this early we'll end up having nothing to look forward to near the end of the program! Nice patch though. |

I suspect that is meant to represent Mars (and perhaps also the "Beyond" in 'Moon, Mars and Beyond'). But maybe the artists can let us know... |

Now the patch is on the NASA Human Spaceflight gallery. The STS-126 patch represents Space Shuttle Endeavour on its mission to help complete the assembly of the International Space Station (ISS). The inner patch outline depicts the Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM) Leonardo. This reusable logistics module will carry the equipment necessary to sustain a crew of six on board the ISS and will include additional crew quarters, exercise equipment, galley, and life support equipment. In addition, a single expedition crew member will launch on STS-126 to remain on board ISS, replacing an expedition crew member who will return home with the shuttle crew. Near the center of the patch, the constellation Orion reflects the goals of the human spaceflight program, returning us to the Moon and on to Mars, the red planet, which are also shown. At the top of the patch is the gold symbol of the astronaut office. The sunburst, just clearing the horizon of the magnificent Earth, powers all these efforts through the solar arrays of the ISS current configuration orbiting high above. |

The guys who ever designed that patch are to be commended and praised for their artwork. The astronauts autographs in gold next to there name on the inside (black and blue sections) would look really cool.I would hire they guys any day to paint or create something for me. |

At long last I am able to announce that the STS-126 patch was designed by an international team. KAPTEC and KSCartist. When the opportunity presented itself thanks to collectSPACE, I wanted to share this project with another artist who had the same dream I did, "to contribute my talent to the space program and see my work orbit the Earth." So I contacted Jorge (who is an incredible talent) to work with me. After 3 months the artwork you see above at the beginning of this thread is the result. Thank you to all of you for your generous compliments on the design. |

I'm happy of our work together and for the International Team we have created.Thank you also guys for your compliments and comments on the patch. It has been a long time a far dream for me, now released thanks to Tim. And I'm very glad to have contributed in a minimum part to this great dream like the Space Conquest is. Thank you sirs. |

Thanks again fellas compliments from talents like you mean a lot.I came up with the blue and gold because I knew Captain Ferguson was Navy. Besides those two colors work very well togther. Incidently Jorge changed my bright gold to a more rich and subtle color. I can't wait to see it embroidered. |

The embroidered version looks very dark and dull. They should have put a yellow-gold like with the STS-123 patch to make it look brighter... |

Personally, I would have chosen metallic gold thread for the "gold" parts of the patch so I understand your feelings. That being said the embroidery is pretty faithful to the colors chosen by the crew so I have to respect that. |

Really colors of the patch ARE the colors of our artwork, specially the blue (not as shown on NASA) but... where we used gold embroiderers have choosen yellow. |
