I have been offered a set of Gemini patches but I haven't seen this type before and was wondering if anyone can provide me with some information about them.

They all follow the same designs as the AB Emblem 3" souvenirs except these are 4" or more.

All are fully embroidered on what appears to be schiffli machines, nice thick and heavy, and seem to be silk thread. All have coated backs which have a stipled appearance. Any ideas?

Any chance you could post some images? Might make identification a bit easier. Thanks.

Sorry, i can't scan images at present.

I have found two examples of Gemini 6 and 8 on eBay (4400643961904 and 111256094038) which are from the set.

I think you mean this set (scanned next to the 'regular' 3 inch AB Emblem versions) These were offered a couple of years ago (2006 or so) on eBay by someone selling old AB Emblem stock. Maybe other people here remember as well. These were not sold in neatly arranged sets, so that we as high bidders all had to trade afterwards with each other to get complete sets (see this posting from 2007). I am almost sure these were indeed manufactured by AB Emblem.

Yes, that's them.

Thank you for the information. I never realised AB Emblem would have made them. Any idea why they were made or why they weren't generally available?

They're so much nicer than the regular 3" versions.

As mentioned above the main source for these back in Fearly 2007 was someone who had acquired large amounts of old AB Emblem stock from a military surplus store.

I bought quite a lot of these patches from him and sold on sets of the Gemini patches in the following months.

According to my records I sold 18 complete sets of these patches in total (at $12 per set) in 2007, and I sold the last (my own set) back in 2012.

Who had them made originally is a mystery as I don't remember ever seeing any sold via shops.

Thank you all again for the information. I bought the set for $25. So glad I did, really nice set.
