Comparable to the manned missions topic, I would like to start a topic on unmanned pins and buttons in order to learn what's out there. Here are my NASA Voyager buttons:

A friend who helped lead two recent planetary missions at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent me his collection of pins that he amassed in his desk while there (he has since left JPL). Among the mission insignia pins (e.g. Dawn, Genesis, 2001 Mars Odyssey, Deep Impact) and anniversary pins (e.g. TOPEX/Poseidon 10th anniversary, 40th anniversary Deep Space Network, 30 Years Voyager, Ulysses 1990-2008) were also a number of milestone pins I hadn't seen before. For example: Grace 3 Years, Mars Odyssey 10,000 Orbits, Voyager 1 100 AU, and two for Cassini — 2 Years and 4 Years at Saturn. |

Jim, as a space pins collector I looked over your collection with great interest. Some of your pins I never met before.Unfortunately the resolution of your images doesn't allow to see details and read inscriptions on some of the pins. Is it possible to get better images or at least to quote the inscriptions? |

Third from the left says "Juno 2011 Lockheed Martin". First on the third row "Genesis".The rest are on this page. |

Just an overview of the Voyager encounters buttons (no anniversaries). Is this complete? I'm still searching the Voyager-Bendix button! |

Since launch:
Pioneer 10 (March 1972) Pioneer 11 (April 1973)
Since passing asteroid belt:
Pioneer 10 (February 1973) Pioneer 11 (September 1974)
Since flyby of Jupiter:
Pioneer 10 (December 1973) Pioneer 11 (December 1974)
Since flyby of Saturn:
Pioneer 11 (September 1979)
Passing the outer planets:
Pioneer 10 since June 1983... |

55 years ago both Luna 2 and Luna 3 missions were in preparation, resulting in respectively the first lunar impact and the first images of the far side of the Moon...
