collectSPACE 'Interstellar' mission patch revealed in new movie trailerThe mission of the "Interstellar" spaceship Endurance is clear — space exploration — at least based on its newly-revealed mission patch. Paramount and Warner Bros. provided a fresh glimpse at "Interstellar," director Christopher Nolan's upcoming space adventure, in a new trailer released Wednesday (July 30). The two and a half minute preview builds upon the footage previously released in May. |

As mentioned in the article: The trailer offers a fairly clear view of the Endurance patch... but some fortunate fans got an even better look at the crew badge at the recent Comic-Con convention held in San Diego....the movie studio had another surprise in store for the panel's audience, giving out the Endurance patches to them all. |

As also mentioned in the article: Both wear an American flag on their left shoulder, a "NASA" insignia centered on their chest — although it is unlike any design that the real-life U.S. space agency has used in its history...
And there are two more patches that appear in the trailer released this week that are for now too obscured to identify: |

Actually, there is one sale on eBay right now that was distributed at Comic-Con. |

Yes, and eBay is where the patches used to illustrate our article were acquired. (A simple search for "Interstellar patch" brings up a number of listings at the moment.) |

The funny thing was I saw the eBay patches (and won one for less than $10) long before I saw this thread. It was surprising to see that they apparently don't have the trademark info on them, which makes me wonder if perhaps those patches were part of a production run for the prop/constume people. It's so unusual to get a patch from a space movie before it even comes out that isn't made by eagle-eyed sci-fi fans with access to embroidery equipment. I had to leap on this one while you can still get them.ComicCon is famous for large amount of neat stuff given to attendees by movie and TV production companies to promote their movies and programs. |

It seams there are a few on eBay, going for $15 to $20 now. Or, you can bid at one of the "Intersteller" listing for a bit less, since the misspellings are being ignored. |

I just checked out that patch creator. One of the templates is STS-130's patch to a T! |

I am really intrigue by the designs of the launch vehicles in those patches! It looks like the did a great job of adapting the Saturn V and Ariane V as launch vehicles. I am even more excited to see what this movie has in store! |
