I recently acquired this STS-2 patch presentation. I cannot find it anywhere on the internet and was wondering if any of you guys had one of these. Is it a flown patch? Are the signatures real (they look preprinted, but you never know)? If anyone can help me with the background of this award, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! -Rodrigo |

I had a similar one for STS-6. As far as I knew (and since the presentation doesn't say), the patch is unflown, and the sigs preprinted. |

Generally speaking, unless a NASA presentation like this states clearly and without ambiguity that the item attached was flown, then it was not (flown). Likewise, in general, if the item has not been flown than the chances of authentic signatures on such certificates is low (as even many flown flag/patch presentations include pre-printed signatures). Specifically, I have seen this STS-2 piece before and neither the patch was flown nor are the signatures real. That said, it is a very nice example of a vintage AB Emblem STS-2 patch. | |
