The Apollo 13 mission patch was one of the only ones to not have the names of the crew on it. Was there ever an Apollo 13 crew patch that had the names "Lovell, Mattingly and Haise" on it?

I know that if a back-up crew flew an Apollo mission, they would wear the same crew patch as the prime crew but there would be no names on the "back-up" patch. So I am wondering if the Apollo 13 crew of Lovell, Swigert and Haise flew with the "back-up" patch instead.

Also, the lunar descent stage plaque could be accessed by a technician even when the LM was stowed aboard the Saturn V. Was there time to make a new Apollo 13 plaque and replace it?

Apollo 11 patch didn't have names on it.

The new plaque was carried onboard and was to be replaced by the crew. The plaque was returned with the mission and kept by Lovell.

The Apollo 13 patch (without names) was released in December 1969.

Apollo missions did not have back-up patches.

Only Apollo 14 had a funny (BEEP BEEP) Roadrunner patch made by the back-up crew...

The Apollo 11 crew stated that their patch design did not have crew names added because the design incorporated the "for all mankind" theme.

The Apollo 13 crew patch was dedicated to the mission focus on science, and incorporated the term "EX LUNA SCIENTIA" (From the Moon, Knowledge).

Neither design had any affiliation between prime versus backup crew.

All times are CT (US)
