I heard it through the grapevine that the individually serialized SpaceX mission patches will be going away as of CRS-17. Instead, employees will be given a version marked with an "X" where the commercial versions will not.

I have not seen a numbered version since Telstar 18V but there are at least nine missions between then and CRS-17.

Here's a photo of the latest employee allocation, numbers obscured and new X's circled.

Liem, my belated thanks for that photo.

I might be missing something, but the CRS-17 patch seems to look the same as the commercial version. It too sports the SpaceX logo in the same spot. What is your take?

Oddly, there was no differentiation between the CRS-17 patch for employees or as a souvenir. Also, as far as I can tell, there was no employee Arabsat 6A patch.

That corresponds with my observations. Thanks for your insight.

I guess with a growing number of flights, and in the long-term increasing workforce, SpaceX is looking for ways to "streamline" this little tradition.

Another employee allocation has been issued at some point. The Arabsat-6A patch has the seniority number, the rest are issued with the SpaceX logo.

All times are CT (US)
