I have an Apollo 12 beta that has a crease running through it, and I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to iron one of these out? I would like to fix it, but not destroy it in the process... any other ideas?

I doubt that a teflon-covered glass fiber fireproof beta cloth will be destroyed by an iron.

Creases in beta cloth are tough to remove. It is almost like the cloth has a memory. I have heard of an iron being used but be very cautious as if you apply too much heat, beta cloth can "scorch" and turn brownish. Be careful.

Another problem with the iron is melting the graphics.

You are probably best off putting it on a flat surface with a lot of weight on top for a few weeks.

I'd be tempted to use it as a display item and put it in a frame. I doubt the crease would be so noticeable then.

Thanks all for your responses... the usual expertise I expected from this group. Everyone echoes the same concerns that I had, so I think I might go the conservative route and try pressing it for a while.
